As Pro.Catalogues (serving the top 1% of golfers) no longer exist I have taken it upon myself to attempt to provide irons for a very small group of golfers whom the mainstream golf industry has turned its back on. As pro. irons are no longer manufactured, in a small way I am buying and reviving history's best ever high centre of gravity irons.  For the vast majority of golfers they are not needed, but for a few hopefully they will be a Godsend. Here's a set of top irons which the modern golf industry don't want you know about, let alone own. Each of this model's heads is approximately 15 grammes heavier than industry standard.  They are SERIOUS ball crushers!
BACKGROUND:As a Master Club Builder and admirer of the world’s very best irons I  have imported from all over the world the very best irons ever made and to various degrees restored them in a sympathetic manner.Why?1.  High centre of gravity irons are no longer made anywhere!  They were made for class players needing to keep their ball low with minimum backspin from their long irons play.  Nowadays even tour players have to make do with low mass irons and generally have to back off with their shots. Manufacturers promote clubs for golf scrubbers, and even modern blades have broad and heavy soles!  It is no longer considered profitable to manufacture irons for a pro. catalogue, and far too risky to name and reputation to allow lager players to struggle.2.  Top quality well designed vintage irons  are not only uniquely  effective   but also extremely pleasing to the eye with their simple understated lines.  No ‘Starship Enterprise’ nonsense with all manner of useless, and immensely difficult to clean,  add ons.My recent article on vintage irons:https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/sourcing-world-class-golf-irons-ivan-sandersThese are such irons.  They are offered at cost price as the cerakoting was screwed up by my agent on the six iron. This was originally finished in dark grey (like the other irons) but I returned it as it had a cosmetic blemish.  When he returned it to me this iron had been re-finished in black!!!!!  I built these irons for my own personal use but can't live with this slightly different coloured iron head. I no longer do business with that agent and didn't want to return it a second time. I built these irons to my own length pattern and spine aligned the shafts. New grips fitted as shown in the photos.    The heads touched each other in the bag on the one occasion I took them out. I hit barely a dozen balls on the driving range off a rubber tee. But they are as new. Walter Hagen (1953) Full Set Ultra 19MO Irons  2-9 IronsRe-finished in Matt CerakoteThey can be polished with light furniture polish spray if preferred.SHAFTS:  Spine aligned True Temper 'Black Gold' X-StiffFERRULES:  36mm vintage style      I have a non refurbished  set of these heads which I play myself. They are as beautiful to play as Ben Hogan's Percussion / Personal but without having to catch the sweet spot to perfection. Putting side spin on the ball is  so easy, and creating my favourite two metres of draw - effortless.  Modern iron sets (even the world's most expensive) are not remotely   close to these beauties. For a player that can handle professional equipment they attack like a sharp razor!   IRON:                LENGTH:            SWING WEIGHT:2                           39.50                           D33                           39.00                           D34                           38.50                           D5 5                           37.75                           D0        6                           36.50                           C27                           36.00                           C4 8                           35.75                           C6  9                           35.75                           D0      ****In 1959 the M.D. of Wilson Staff charged his Chief Design Engineer to design the very best ever pro. iron which the golf world have ever seen. Of course he came out with now legendary  'Dyna Powered Staff Model'  which many still argue was indeed the best design ever.  What most of the golf world failed to notice was that such design was earlier created by Hagen in 1953 vis a vis his 19MO model, and W.S. essentially simply reproduced it.  I don't know whether or not the patent was licensed, if indeed the design was patented. Unfortunately most detailed golf history that old has been lost for ever. *** RETURNS ONLY ACCEPTED IF GOODS ARRIVE DAMAGED.
