This piece of history has got to be the Perfect Gift for that duffer, friend or your father…!
I almost put it up for auction at Julien's Auctions of Beverly Hills because they had a used “Hope Classic” bag on consignment that had sold for almost $400.
This flawless golf bag has been displayed in my office on my credenza along with other trophys and it has never been damaged, it has never been used in any way except as a real big trophy in my office. It still has the factory packaging in the various pockets and pouches. There are no flaws or cosmetic damage and it has always been in my air conditioned non-smoking office.
I don’t get to play very much anymore because of a back injury, therefore I’ve sort of lost interest in the sport and I need to part with my treasured Bob Hope Classic Golf Bag c2004 I received for playing in the Bob Hope Classic in Indian Wells, California.
The brass tag where my name, date and course has not been engraved, and is blank, so you can put your name on it.
If you can spin a good story with your duffer buddies, this bag is all the evidence you will need to prove you are not just some old fart duffer who plays golf once or twice a month with his retired friends.Shipping will be by FedEx in one of their extra-heavy golf bag boxes normally containing a golf bag filled with clubs and balls. The box itself weighs in at 8.5 pounds.I'VE DISCOUNTED THE SHIPPING COST BY $30 to the West Coast or East Coast from Central Texas which is normally $72.00 including lots of bubble-wrap to make sure it arrives undamaged in the extra heavy FedEx golf bag box.The bag is a dark blue and white, and the approximate size is: 48”H X 17”W X 12”W.
For your information here’s a little Background: The Bob Hope Classic was a professional tournament that was played in January each year in California's Coachella Valley. Bob was a big celebrity in and around the Palm Springs area.
The ‘Hope Classic’ was part of the PGA Tour's early season West Coast Swing. This tournament was always well known for its Celebrity Pro-Am, and was previously known for having five daily 18-hole rounds of competition played on five courses vs. the ‘Tour Standard’ of four rounds on three courses.
A Pro-Am event that was hosted by Bob Hope for many years, and featured many celebrity participants.
The Hope Classic was organized by the nonprofit Desert Classic Charities.
