Purely PING. When PING set out to develop the iBlade, its ultimate goal was to create a true blade iron that was unquestionably PING. What does that mean? It means that players can expect all of the performance, control, and workability that’s typically found in a traditional blade, but they’re also going to get the playability and forgiveness that PING has been known for through the years. The shaping of the iBlade was inspired by PING’s Glide wedge, which engineers chose to work with as a foundation because of its simple yet functional shape. Visually, there’s no question that this is a true players club, as it features thin toplines, compact blade shapes, minimal offset throughout the set, straight leading edges, and a sharp high toe. The construction of the iBlade in terms of shape was designed to deliver control and workability. Interestingly enough, however, unlike most blades, the iBlade is not forged; it’s a cast club. But the use of soft 431 stainless steel and Activated Elastomer behind the clubface combine to produce a soft feel and muted impact sound. As mentioned, there’s still plenty in the way of forgiveness and distance incorporated into the sleek visual package. clubface that’s almost twice as thin as the highly successful S55 iron is producing faster ball speeds and improved launch for more distance and stopping power, while tungsten weighting utilized in the design has enhanced the iBlade’s MOI.
