Used Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2, circa 2014, 34 inch shaft. Loft is 0.5 degree weaker than factory (4 degrees this club vs 3.5 degrees factory). Factory lie angle is 70 degrees, this club slightly more upright at 72 degrees. This club's 4 degree loft--the traditional putter loft for decades--offers the golfer a little more flexibility across a range of greens (ie, fast greens to slow). The conventional wisdom advises lower loft on fast greens, higher loft on slow greens, because the additional loft "lifts" the ball to the top of the grass, minimizing skid, where it can roll freely. A lower loft on a slow green promotes the ball skidding off the club face. All things considered, the modifications to this club should not be an influence to any golfer who plays a variety of courses where green conditions change regularly. The club is fitted with the Jordan Spieth-preferred Super Stroke SS2, a square grip. The club comes with 3 sets of sole weights--10, 20 and 30 grams--and a wrench. Imperfections: Small, almost unnoticeable bend marks on the hosel. Mild dimples on the top edge. Neither are distracting when over the ball. No head cover.
