This was purchased as part of a collection. It is approximately 120 years old and in near mint condition. It is roughly 1 1/2" in diameter or slightly smaller than today's golf ball.Gutta percha, the sap from an Indian Rubber tree, was used to mold golf balls from the year 1850 to approximately 1900. During that time many different patterns were experimented with.This is a unique ball not only because of the circular grooves but because it is red gutta rather than the common black or brown color.A scarce item and a great addition to your golf collection.
