A 360° undercut cavity utilized in the design creates a thin, unsupported clubface. The face flexes more at impact and the result is higher ball speeds on shots struck from anywhere on the face, a key component in the added distance that the AP1 irons produce. As for forgiveness, tungsten weighting helps lower the CG, which creates both higher launch and improved stability, and its use along the perimeter of club increases MOI. Also of note, pre-worn leading edges have been incorporated in the AP1’s design for better turf interaction, and an optimized CG progression promotes a more consistent ball flight with each club.
