Up for sale is a briefly used set of Callaway Apex Black irons, 5-9, PW and AW (7 clubs total). These were used less than 10 full rounds, and never even used on the practice range. The 5-PW have Aldila RIP Tour 115 graphite iron shafts in regular flex. If you look up any reviews, these shafts play very stiff to flex. In comparison, I believe this particular shaft to play slightly softer than a C-Taper stiff flex, and what I imagine a C-Taper regular + flex would play like. The raw uncut weight of the shafts are approximately 110 grams. The AW has a dynamic gold AMT tour issue s400 shaft, which is essentially the same as a dynamic gold tour issue s400 shaft. These clubs have been completely customized and play to shortened lengths and have .25" increments. The 5 iron plays to 37" (standard 7 iron length), the 6 iron plays to 36.75", the 7 iron plays to 36.5" (standard 8 iron length), the 8 iron plays to 36.25", the 9 iron plays to 36" (standard), the PW plays to 35.75" (standard), and the AW plays the 35.5" (standard). All the shafts have been properly tip trimmed and swingweighted, so the shafts play true to flex even at the shortened lengths. All of the clubs swingweight to approximately D3, which was very difficult given the custom lengths.I have found that customizing irons this way allows for far greater consistency, as the iron swing doesn't change nearly as much when there is only a 1" difference between your PW and 5 iron, as opposed to 2". However, it is very costly to do so.
Callaway has officially sold out of these limited edition Apex Blacks, so they are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Additionally, Aldila no longer sells these graphite iron shafts.
