Adjustable Zebra Putter

Adjustable 1976 Zebra Putter.
This Zebra has a ball joint at the
bottom of the shaft. A lock nut
can be lossened and the shaft
can be moved into unlimited
positions in relationship to the
head. The shaft/head relation-
ship can be made to have more
offset, less offset or no offset.
The head can be set to show
no loft, 1 to 4 degrees of loft etc.
The Zebra's lie can be made as
flat or as upright as you want.
Setting the head is simple. 1st
you tighten the lock nut slightly
to where you can still move the
head into different positions.
You find a shaft/head/loft angle
that looks good and you tighten
the lock nut a little more. Set up
to the putter and decide if you
want to lock in the set up. If
you like the set up, tighten the
lock nut using extra hand pressure
on the hex wrench. If you are
totally satisfied you can hit the
hex tool with a hammer. The
head is not going to move until
you loosen the head with
another hit to the hex tool with
the hammer. This 1976 adjustable Zebra
putter has been refurbished with
a wonderful new paint job and
looks so much better than the
original Zebra gray and black
strip models. The head was
sanded and 2 white primer coats
were applied. Next 2 Rust-Oleum
Gloss Merlot coats were applied.
Notice the color closely matches
Jason Days putter color. A great unexpected result was
achieved. The face of the putter
was taped before primer and
paint were applied. When the
tape was removed a narrow
line of white primer was visible
between the vertical putter face
and the merlot paint. This thin
line of white primer at the top
creates a great sight line for
squaring up the putter face to
the desired target line. In addition another great alighnment
result was made possible. If you
have ever looked closely at the
gray and black stripping on most
Zebra putters you may have
noticed that the stripes seem to
align left in relationship to the
leading edge of the putter. This
has always been a frustrating
visual effect with Zebra putters.
I have applied a narrow strip of
white vinyl tape in the center
groove of the putter. The line is
90 degrees to the white primer
line at the leading edge of the
putter. The results are square
sight lines to the target line.
Please note that the white tape
line could be blocked in with
painters tape and a permanent
white line could be painted in.
I am not going to paint in the
sight line you see. I think the
owner of this very unique putter
should have the option of experimenting with sight lines
that appeal to his or her visual
tastes. You may even want to
apply 2 or 3 parallel sight lines.
This putter allows you to
create the alighnment look
you want. You could also work
with vinyl tape lines and not
paint in lines at all or not until
you are certain of the look you
want. Please note that this Zebra
includes 2 weighted washers
that can be attached to the
removable sole plate. That
gives you 3 weight choices.
A black foam insert is included
to dampen any head noise.
Zebra head cover Included. This Zebra has been lengthened.
Originally 35" a 1" metal extension
was added and recently a 3"
graphite extension. The thinner
graphite extension can be built
up with masking tape to hold
the desired grip. I have extended
shafts many times this way and
never have a problem. The 39"
length allows you to counter
balance and/or use longer grips.
I can cut it to the length you
choose from 33" to 39" or I can
send it to you and you can
decide the length you want
later. I have the pictured grips
