MADE TO CELEBRATE 59 MAJOR WINS FOR WILSON AND PADRAIG HARRINGTONS FIRST MAJOR WIN
Press release                                                                                    October 2009 Wilson staff RElaunches fg series of forged blades - New Fg59 named after the 59 Majors won using Wilson irons - Wilson Golf has relaunched its famous FG series of forged clubs with the introduction of new Wilson Staff Fg59 blades, following two years of consumer testing that helped to optimise both the look and performance of the irons. Based around the Tour-proven Fg17s, the Fg59 irons are being released initially as a limited edition of 250 individually numbered sets, each coming with its own smart presentation box. The premium clubs have been named to commemorate the number of Major championships won with Wilson irons which, at the time of development, was 58. However, following Padraig Harrington’s emotional victory at Carnoustie last year, Wilson had no option but to adopt the new Fg59 title. The new forged blades have already achieved success on the PGA Tour. The 27-year-old American DJ Trahan used a prototype set to win this year’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Featuring a wider sole than their predecessors and a low muscle design, they have a lower centre of gravity that makes it easier to achieve a consistent strike. The Fg59’s sole also prevents skidding on harder fairways, while its mild camber and heel and toe relief minimise digging on softer fairways. Forged from mild carbon steel to produce a soft and responsive feel, the blades are designed with minimal offset to improve workability and trajectory control. he limited edition sets are available from 3i-PW and come with Tour-proven Dynamic Gold steel shafts in regular, plus Lamkin Crossline grips.
