'"Very RARE" Freddy, Tom Stewart, All Original with Shaft Stamp.Very Collectible

Up for sale is a " Very Rare " FREDDY by Tom Stewart I have only seen 3 of these Rare Clubs.In Ralph's Book " Thomas Stewart Jr. Golf Cleek and Iron Maker " on page 113 . Nothing is known of the background of the Freddy. The known examples were produced for A. L. Johnson Co. so this model might have been exclusively made for their trade. Though the Freddy has many similarities to a Sammy, it is generally shorter with a deeper face. The Freddy also has less taper from toe to heel, giving it a very rectangular shape. This example also features the A. L. Johnson stamped shaft. Considering the similarities, the " Freddy " name may be a play on the " Sammy " name, but the source of the " Freddy " name is not known. One theory holds that it is named for Alfred L. Johnson, who, perhaps was called " Freddy " by this golfing companions.( Dot Face ).The shaft is solid straight tight to hosel no cracks or chips, Swing Weight C- 3, Length 37 1/2" , Loft 23* " Playable if desired "

Organized into sections that deal with marks, early clubs (1893 - 1904), post 1905 clubs, putters, personalized irons and face patterns along with miscellaneous work.
This is a must-have book for any golf collector. Numbers 380 - 415 of the first edition are now available and each one is individually numbered. These are all of the remaining books available.
