The putter was released at 7 a.m. PDT and was gone before most had an opportunity to click refresh or add one to their online shopping cart. Nike teased the release on Tuesday, touting it as being "engineered to the exact specifications of Rory McIlroy, from head to grip." The putter was offered at 34 inches with a 350-gram head and Method midsize grip. McIlroy's custom "Rors" engraving was also added to the hosel. Rounding out the limited edition offering was a premium Nike headcover with McIlroy's signature stitched on, and a "Rory Signature" box. This isn't the first time a Nike Golf release has sold out in a matter of minutes. The Swoosh released and last and watched as both disappeared in a similar timeframe. McIlroy switched to Nike's Method Origin B2-01 last year at the TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola and has been using it ever since. The putter has a reengineered polymetal groove design in the face that offers linear, full-length grooves from heel to toe. The design allows the putter to provide a more efficient and faster forward roll. Improving the feel of the putter is a new three-piece design that's comprised of the face, a secondary mass on the back and a RZN layer compressed in the middle. The RZN layer plays a role on off-center strikes (heel or toe) where distance control and energy are an issue.
